iPhone 5 Possible Features Leaked By A. One

February 12, 2012

Following up on the big possible iPhone 5 leak we talked about in Friday’s article, we’ve been given additional information on the iPhone 5 specs from our source, Faiz Aly of A. One. And just as with the images we showed you on Friday, this information is big. Some of it is in line with what we’ve been reporting for weeks here at iPhone 5 Latest, and some of it is brand new information that you won’t find anywhere else.

iPhone 5 Gets 4G LTE, Bigger Screen and Different Shape

When we were first given the leaked World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2012 images, the first thing we noticed was the bright 4G symbol in the upper left corner of the purported iPhone 5′s screen. We speculated about whether or not the iPhone 5 would be getting the ultra fast 4G LTE or a slower form of 4G. According to A. One’s sources, the iPhone 5 will indeed be getting 4G LTE, which means that iPhone 5 users will be able to take advantage of the fast connection on all three major cellular networks (AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint).

Another thing that A. One confirmed for us about the pictures is that the iPhone 5 will indeed have a bigger screen. We speculated that, judging by the pictures, the iPhone 5 screen would be between 3.7-4.3 inches in size. According to A. One, the iPhone 5′s screen is actually 3.7 inches, which makes it slightly bigger than the previous iPhone’s 3.5 inch display.

iPhone 5 leaked

iPhone 5 leaked

A. One’s Foxconn source (who wishes to remain unnamed) told A. One that the iPhone 5 will have a different form factor than the rectangular, flat shaped iPhone 4 and 4S. This confirms what we assumed based on the leaked images: the iPhone 5 will indeed have a rounder shape than previous iPhones.

Better Camera and CMOS Sensor Coming to iPhone 5

Something we wondered about (and that wasn’t evident with the leaked iPhone 5 images) was whether or not the iPhone 5 would be getting a better camera. Of course, people are generally pretty happy with the iPhone 4S 8 Megapixel camera, but some have been holding out for a better camera in the iPhone 5.

And according to A. One, that’s exactly what they’ll be getting as the iPhone 5 is reportedly set to have a whopping 13 Megapixel camera. While such a huge camera isn’t common in smartphones (yet), it’s also not unheard of as the HTC Titan 2 will be coming with a 16 Megapixel Camera.

The iPhone 5 camera will also come equipped with an upgraded CMOS sensor. As you might recall, the iPhone 4S was the first iPhone to come with a CMOS sensor. The new iPhone 5 CMOS sensor plus the higher megapixel camera will likely greatly improve the quality of pictures taken with the iPhone 5′s camera.

Production Has Began

We also asked A. One’s Faiz Aly about the iPhone 5′s production status. Aly told us that, according to his Foxconn source, production has already begun on the iPhone 5 in the Foxconn plants. This falls in line with what we previously reported here and also leads us to believe that the iPhone 5 will be hitting the market in June or July to coincide with WWDC 2012.

What Do You Think?

Which of these reported iPhone 5 features has you most excited about the upcoming device? Do you think that there will be a substantial difference in picture quality with the iPhone 5 as compared to the iPhone 4S? Will you be buying the iPhone 5 given these features? Leave us a comment below and give us your opinion on the matter.

of course I will buying iPhone 5, I trust any features in it, must be the best. I always love Apple's product, but I only have iPad 1 with luckily. I've lost my smartphone last week and I stand to borrow another phone until I can buy iPhone 5.. :) ) I hope I have enough money to buy it because in my country the price will be higher than in US :(

All of them are the hardware upgrade. Apple can make more.

I'm sorry, I'm no longer impressed by the Iphone. I know that yes, technically, it has always been considered the best smartphone and the standard by which all others are measured. However, Some of the latest Android smartphones have closed the gap, and in some ways are even superior. Many now have bigger screens, better battery life, better speakers, better apps, live, streaming wallpapers, and (gasp) FLASH SUPPORT! Why no removable SD Flash card?! I've been an Iphone user since 2008 and it has become indispensable in my everyday life, but every day I'm reminded about its' shortcomings in the previously mentioned areas. I mean, seriously, why not a bigger screen?? Why no sturdy little kickstand on the back? Better, louder speakers? And why is it only NOW that the NEXT Iphone will have 4G, and maybe not even LTE? Apple users have been brainwashed into settling on all of these issues while the 'droids have gotten better and better? When my contract is up later this year I'm seriously leaning towards the Sony Xperia Ion, or very similar phone. I'm just so sick of wanting more.

Jason Eggleston February 24, 2012 at 4:08 am

Good.. Please go buy an Android. Your not smart enough to figure out that of course Androids always come out with a "better" version shortly after a new iphone. That's because they steal all of the copyrighted material and then add a few extras into the phone and BAM, here's your new Android….. I'd rather buy from a company that thinks on their own and does not need to copy someone else's ideas….good or bad…

Mitch R. February 28, 2012 at 2:24 pm

Oh please buddy, welcome to the real world. Everyone steals others' ideas. Apple stole and tweaked Androids notification drop down bar and straight to camera from lock screen among others and Android has stole and tweaked Apple's ideas.

Anyways…if this has a bigger screen and 4G LTE I will switch from Android. I have always liked Apple products but have enjoyed android more just because thats the first smartphone I've had and been used to. If they have 4G LTE (I assume they would as they were waiting for a smaller/more battery efficent antenna that was out in early 2012) and a bigger screen (not everyone has dainty little 10 year old hands)

iphone1002546 February 28, 2012 at 6:39 pm

I have an android and it sucks. I am waiting for the iphone 5. You think the android is better now but wait till it slows down and you want to throw it against a wall. Mine freezes all the time and most people I know with droids all want to get their iphones back.

Yes-Imma AppleGurl March 6, 2012 at 7:44 am

Yeah, I totally agree with Jason Eggleston. I just want to tell people who thinks Android, somehow, better than Apple, that Apple's always the first to introduce the idea. Not just iPhone, but also tablet computer. I bet not so many people were familiar with it until Apple introduced iPad. And after the idea of tablet computer exploded in the society, there they come, the stealing-idea-jerk introducing 'tab', which supposed to be 'better' than iPad (Which I find not true), and also with cheaper price. I don't hate the idea of Android (since it's very similar to Apple's idea), the one thing that bugging me is that I don't think that Android is original, it's more like the forced-low-end version of Apple.

ProudAppleNoob February 21, 2012 at 4:42 pm

I'm an android user but after getting a Macbook pro I am a full fledged apple snob now. I can't wait for the iPhone 5 to come out so I can finally switch from my POS htc evo. However, what happened to the "full redesign?" That's no redesign that's just a bigger screen. Besides the bigger screen it looks exactly the same as the 4 and 4S. Everywhere else I have read said they are probably going to use some type of metal for the back and it will be slimmer. I think(hope) your source was trolled with a fake picture. If that is what the iPhone 5 looks like, I will be staying with my android..

Shafton Greene February 24, 2012 at 8:32 pm

LOOK. after steve jobs died… apple has been very sucky lately. i mean… look at the ipod nano and the iphone 4S!!! nano took a down grade and lost all its swagger. and the new iphone has hardly no change!!! i dont know if i should even buy some of their stuff nowdays.

Parker February 27, 2012 at 2:31 am

Steve jobs died after the iphone 4s was made

Silverb February 25, 2012 at 2:21 am

The picture of the iPhone 5 is a fake. The lighting is wrong. Someone copied the iPhone 4 enlarged it then inverted the shading switched it around and added an edited screen

freomood February 25, 2012 at 11:35 am

iPhone 5 will be my first iPhone so I'm hoping it will live up to all the expectations, big expense so it had better be dig value too!, is this where i come to get some lessons or tips on how to use it??

DKeller February 28, 2012 at 2:35 am

Bottom line for me, a much larger viewing screen. It does not matter to me how great the features and apps are if have to strain to see what i'm looking at. Just like TVs, bigger and clearer is better. Hoping my next phone choice will be the iP5, However, it will not happen for me without a much larger screen.

hunter123 February 29, 2012 at 4:12 am

i truly think that they need to some how find a way to put a hologram display on to it, put a built in projector into it,, because i dont feel like paying 150+ dollars for a projector for the Iphone, lastly i would like it to have a hologram keyboard on it.. if u agree with me comment and add what else you think it should have.

Cathie February 29, 2012 at 2:28 pm

Why make the screen bigger? It's big enough, as a female i don't want to start carrying something the size of a tablet in my purse (yes-I exaggerated that comment), bigger isn't always better, just more cumbersome.

Dmont March 2, 2012 at 6:23 pm

I was just going to say this!!! It's not a tablet people! Buy an i-pad and watch movies and videos on it, if you want a bigger screen. Cellphones were invented becuase they were convenient, and they used to get smaller and smaller. now people want them bigger and bigger. The Droids are huge and don't fit in my hand. The iphone is packaged to look nice and expensive, and smart!

Sydney April 7, 2012 at 11:13 pm

Will the iphone 5 have the 20 dollar plan, I'm only 13 and I can have the iphone because it is 40 dollars a month. I have verizon and think that they should make a play for kid where it is 20 dollars a month and the only differece is that it just doesn't have internet every where. They would sell a lot more that way I think.

Michelle Canever April 8, 2012 at 7:27 am

Hi Sydney,

From what I remember, the iPhone data plan is around $20-$30, depending on how much GB data you want. So it's a little bit less than $40 a month. It's possible that the cell phone networks for the iPhone may create a cheaper data plan, but there's no confirmation on that yet.
