iPhone 5 Images Leaked from WWDC 2012 Keynote Presentation

February 10, 2012

Well folks, the past few weeks have been full of iPhone 5 rumors, with reported NFC capability and a ridiculously fast A6 processor among some of the mentioned features for the new iPhone. We’ve even heard that the iPhone 5 will be coming out in June to coincide with Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC). But what we haven’t heard much about lately is the actual look of the iPhone 5. That is, until this week. You see, even though the WWDC is still four months away, iPhone 5 Latest has received images that may very well show the iPhone 5. It appears that the iPhone images have leaked.

First Look at the iPhone 5?

This week we received an email from an Faiz Aly of A.One, a team that focuses on researching and finding leaks, as well as other information, concerning upcoming Apple products. Faiz Aly and A.One were kind enough to provide us with two images that they believe were leaked from Apple’s WWDC 2012 keynote presentation.

Of course, we cannot say for sure that this is what the iPhone 5 will look like as many iPhone images have leaked in the past that ultimately didn’t pan out. However, our source has gotten it right before and already has information on the upcoming iPad 3, which will likely be released in March. So we’re inclined to believe that the iPhone 5 images have leaked and that the iPhone 5 might just look like the iPhone seen in these images:

[like-locker-pro id="3c2d84f8a7fb13507" theme="facebook" scheme="default" url="http://iphone5latest.com/iphone-5-images-leaked-from-wwdc-2012-keynote-presentation" message="Click Like to unlock the leaked keynote images of the iPhone 5!"]

New to the iPhone 5

Let’s start with the obvious: based on these pictures, it appears that  the iPhone 5 will, in fact, come with 4G. This has been rumored for many months and was even previously reported on iPhone 5 Latest. What’s not obvious, however, is whether this will be plain 4G or 4G LTE–and, yes, there is a difference between the two. The difference between the two is simple: 4G LTE is considerably faster than 4G (we’re talking 12mbps download rate versus 5-6mbps download rate).

Perhaps even more noticeable than the beautiful 4G icon in the iPhone 5′s taskbar is the size of the device. In looking at the first picture, the bigger size isn’t that noticeable; however, when you see picture 2, it’s obvious that the iPhone 5 is bigger than the previous iPhone models. How much bigger? We don’t know yet, but judging by the pictures, we’re betting that the iPhone 5 is probably sporting at least a 3.7 to 4.3″ display.

Beyond these two big differences, we can also see that the receiver on the iPhone 5 is slightly bigger than it was on other iPhones. This is likely due to the bigger overall size of the device. It also appears that the front-facing camera is slightly bigger. Could this mean a better front-camera for the iPhone 5? We don’t know yet, but it is possible.

What’s the Same

Judging by these pictures, the iPhone 5 will have a slightly curvier design than the flat, rectangular shaped iPhone 4 and 4S. However, overall, it seems like the button design of the device is similar to the 4 and 4S. The home button, front camera, receiver, volume, lock, and silencer buttons all appear to be in the same place as previous models.

It also looks like the iPhone 5 will be running the same iOS5 software as the 4S. We don’t have images of the back of the iPhone 5 yet, but we’re guessing the camera will also be in the same position as previous models and will possibly be either the same 8MP camera as found in the 4S or perhaps a 10MP or higher one.

More to Come on Sunday

iPhone 5 Latest is constantly receiving more information from our source, Faiz Aly of A.One, and will be reporting more information on the iPhone 5′s specs in Sunday (2/12)’s article, so be sure to check back here often for more information on the iPhone 5 leak.

is it just bigger than the others

Hi Joseph,

It is indeed bigger than the others. This iPhone also is different from the other iPhones as it comes with 4G and is rumored to have a better processor and camera than the iPhone 4S.

From what I understand, I thought it was to have a dual core processor.

How do you think the overall size is in comparison to the Milestone X? I like the petit size of the 4s and don’t like the size of the Milestone. I have been waiting for the iPhone 5, but not sure I want a monster size phone. I like the 4G aspect and bigger screen, but it seems maybe it might be too big. The 4G is looming at me…

Hi Jodi,

After this story was published, we received additional information about the size of the screen from our source (which is talked about in today's article). We're hearing that the screen is 3.7" on the iPhone 5, which means it won't be too much bigger than the 4S. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your comment. :)

I have always owned a droid, because I felt the iphone was hard to type on. But I like that they are making it bigger. This is big. Everything I own is apple. So now I will hopefully get an iphone.

Has anyone heard anything about an indicator light?

Hi Maria,

We haven't heard anything about an indicator light as of yet. It is still possible, though.

Thanks for your comment.

This isn't even a good fake…look at the font for the time, compare it to the original iPhone's font..it's not even close. Nice try though.

Reply

Jason February 12, 2012 at 9:21 pm

Hi Josh,

If you look at the original iPhone's font and compare it to the iPhone 4S font, you can see that the font has changed over the years. It is also possible that Apple has decided to change the font with the 5. We won't know for sure until the 5 comes out.

Thanks for your comment. :)

Reply

Fernando February 13, 2012 at 10:48 pm

It's a possibility, but I don't think Apple would go that way. That font looks pretty fugly (at least on the picture of side by side comparisons).

Reply

Taylor Casey February 26, 2012 at 3:47 am

I think the font is more business- like, and we never know if we will be able to change the font ourselves (btw that wud be awesome!)

Adobe flash?, NFC?, Radio?, good battery?, if have these features, i wil buy, if not i wil buy Samsung galaxy s3. You can have much more fun with Samsung phone.

Reply

Jason February 12, 2012 at 9:23 pm

Hi guest,

We reported on possible NFC capability last week, so that feature is pretty likely at this point. The battery is also said to be better because of the possible A6 processor that the iPhone 5 will likely have. We haven't heard any information yet on radio capability, though that is possible and if we hear about it, we'll be sure to report it here.

Thanks for your comment.

The battery may be bigger, but the big battery depleter is the screen. And if the screen is bigger, than it will deplete faster. A benefit from the size is that they can make a bigger battery. The downsize will be that the device will become a bit more heavier.

Reply

lewis February 22, 2012 at 4:07 pm

Well flash is discontinued on the droid. It should have better battery life because they are making the phone bigger. I am really excited about a bigger iPhone

Reply

very excited about all rumored new features, NOT so excited about the increase in size, going to have to wait for release to see if i will buy

Reply

lewis February 22, 2012 at 4:10 pm

Trust me when you see the new one the small increase in size will make the iPhone much more usable. And when the battery is better you will praise it.

How about thickness? That's the key for me. I have no reason to upgrade from my 3GS until the thing gets much thinner. Thanks.

Reply

Fernando February 13, 2012 at 10:56 pm

The thickness is fine right now IMO. If something gets too thin, it tends to be hard to grip it comfortably. And also, you SO have a reason to upgrade :) It'll be a pretty big jump from 3GS to 5 man :o I'm sure you've seen the retina display? Faster? Better (not best) camera? the 4's are already thinner? Front facing camera (is nice)? I don't, these seem like pretty good reason to upgrade IMHO :) I also like that they're heavier, feels like I'm actually holding something of quality, not a cheap plastic toy.

Reply

lewis February 22, 2012 at 4:08 pm

plus if its too thin then the battery is really horrible

Reply

Chris February 13, 2012 at 4:44 pm

I hope your source is right that it is going to be a 3.7" display and not a 4.3. I like the iPhone because of its size. Competitors seem focused on producing huge displays, and in turn huge phones that just look awkward. Hopefully Apple sticks with their own formula and doesn't become a follower. Thanks for the updates!

I'm getting tired of all these ridiculous so called leaks. A week ago there's a leak saying a legit source says there's multiple models being worked on and they look completely different to the iPhone 4/4s and all have screen sizes 4-inches or bigger. Now, there's an "image leak" that pretty much contradicts their "legit source" and looks identical to the 4/4s, and just looks photo shopped with the 4G on and slightly bigger with a 3.7-inch screen. Plus, a 3.7-inch and that leaked image does not match. The image looks like it has at least a 4-inch screen compared to the other iPhones. So, that doesn't even match.

Reply

Jason February 16, 2012 at 7:10 pm

Hi Jaocb,

Thanks for your comment. As with everything surrounding the launch of a new iPhone, it's all speculation at this point. Our source gave us these images as well as the specifications. As we can't prove either way whether they're real or fake, we decided to run this article. We obviously won't know until the iPhone is released whether or not the images are real or fake.

Reply

Guest February 15, 2012 at 1:27 am

Meh, I was really hoping it'd be a bit thinner and smaller…I have a 3g, and I hate how it always falls out of my pocket. I've been looking forward to upgrading to an iPhone 5 when it's released, but if it's bigger, it's probably not worth it…
Not a big addition, but I hope that Apple eventually releases black and white photography options in the cameras.

Reply

drbob February 15, 2012 at 4:58 am

Pleeeeeease! Look at the size of the unlock slider, the home button, the status bar – everything is proportionately bigger. This is just a slightly enlarged pic of an iPhone 4 with a poorly photoshopped speaker slot and camera. C'mon, folks, don't fall for this crap!

Big touch screen and 4G network, these were to common, and every manufacture can make it. Apple will make a difference.

Reply

This got to be a fake. Apple will not release a phone this hideous. And besides they change the whole designs of their phones every two generations and this looks like the first generation.

I have a 3GS and am ready for an upgrade. Can you provide any idea of how reliable the summer (June 2012) date is for the release. Sure don't want to wait until the fall.

Reply

Jason February 16, 2012 at 7:08 pm

Hi Hurry,

We're still hearing a summer 2012 release date as iPhone 5 production is currently beginning in the Foxconn production facility. So a safe bet is June, July, or August 2012. Of course, this could always change, but that's what we've been hearing.

Reply

Izi February 20, 2012 at 9:55 pm

It wiill never happen in June to August timeframe as new Macs and Mountain Lion will be released. Do expect an iPhone 5 in October 2012.

Reply

Robert February 15, 2012 at 10:04 pm

This is definitely a fake. Why would they already be working on slides for the keynote presentation that is at least 4 months away? Come on this is ridiculous. It's a horrible photoshop and I cannot believe anyone would think for one second that this is real.

Reply

Jason February 16, 2012 at 7:06 pm

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your comment. We were given these images by a source who claimed they were real. As we can't prove either way whether they're real or fake, we decided to pass on the images to our readers. As with most things iPhone, no one knows for sure what the new iPhone looks like until Apple debuts it. It's all just speculation until then. :)

It had better be, at a minimum, a 4.3" screen. I am tired of the tiny screen and it is taking everything I have to not switch to the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket with a 4.52" screen. I will wait for the WWDC to see if it's coming out with new features and a bigger screen. If not, hello Samsung Android.

Reply

cooksta3276 February 20, 2012 at 1:57 am

For sure. You can make a big screen out of a decent size phone by reducing bezel and other ways. 4.5" is the smallest I'll settle for next round. If you actually compare a 4s to a gs2, yes there is a difference, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not going to make you tip over or stop you from sitting down with it in your pocket….

Just enhanced the picture and compared the width (a) and length (b) of the screen to the home button (10mm) to get the diagonal (c) which I found to be approx. 4.019 inch. Probably fake picture and a waste of time but interesting…

Reply

Mike February 20, 2012 at 12:15 pm

So fake! The font of the time on the "iPhone 5" is wrong. It's clearly just an iPhone 4 resized. And also, apple would never produce a slide like that. Why would they bother comparing an iPhone 3 to a 3s and a 4 to a 4s when everyone knows its the same model.

Such a lame attempt! At least try and make a good fake. This website has lost any reputation.

I think that the iPhone does look too big. But that's a good thing as long it's not fat or thick. Screen does need to be bigger, look at all the other smartphones they clearly have a bigger screen unlike the iPhones 4 & 4S 3" screen. Should have a better megapixel latest iPhone isn't good. And my biggest thing I'm looking for is longer lasting battery and hoping that the iPhone 5 is more of a screen and not the rest of the stuff around the phone.

so sad it's going to be bigger. One reason I loved the iPhone was because it was still sleek, and not a clumsy huge thing like the others. I'm going out today to get the 4s, since no reason to wait for the 5 now

Reply

lewis February 22, 2012 at 4:16 pm

I think you are thinking of a 4.5 inch. Compare a 4 inch screen and you will see that they are not too big but rather just more usable. 4 inch is ok. 4.5 is too big.

iphone doesnt really need a very large screen since it has a great ppi witch makes the experience better but against competition it should have more than 4 inch screen and less than 4.3 with a very high resolution witch will allow it to overcome the competitions pressure!!! i believe more than 4.3 inch screen would look ugly and 3.7 would be small!!i would love to see a macrosclae quad core with 3d on proccesor just to blow the competition away!!! and i hate how other companies copy apple!

I hope the iPhone 5 has at least a 4.3" screen with a min resoltion of 800×1280, NFC, able to play flash, divX, Xvid, etc. If I dont hear anything in a month or two from Apple I'll probably buying my first droid, a Samsung galaxy LTE which have all the specs I want. Yeah this whole bigger is better pissing match over screen size is a joke in my opinion…it's because nobody can compete with the iPhone. It's a phone, if you want a giant screen buy an iPad or use your computer! If its not broken don't fix it Apple, I think a giant screen would be a huge mistake for the iPhone…there must be a smaller version in the works if they do indeed go there.

I think the trend for the bigger phones is weird. Men already have to carry this encumbrance called a wallet – who the heck wants to be saddled with a giant phone to? Smaller is better, lighter is better. I'm a road cyclist and would like to have a few key features on the phone: communications, email/text, GPS, but in a small compact and easily pocket-able format.

Why isn't any manufacturer responding to the millions of athletes and weekend adventurers who don't want to haul a brick around? Smaller / lighter is better.

Reply

DaveinSacto May 19, 2012 at 6:42 pm

Definitely too big – I have to carry a wallet – pain in butt. Who wants to have to carry a brick everywhere? Smaller, lighter, sleeker – fit easily and invisibly in my pocket – I don't want this humongous phone, but love Apple products.
I'm a road cyclist / business owner / musician, and sleek is better. On a convention floor, the last think I want is giant phone bulge in my jacket, shirt or pants. On the bike, I pay a lot for light – these phones are tanks. For the price they should weight less than 200 grams – make the screen go to the edges of the original model, carbon fiber case/frame. If you need a bigger screen, there's iPad..
